James Lam is Partner and Head of Odgers Berndtson's U.S.-based Leadership Advisory Group, serving clients of its Board & CEO, Governance & Risk, and all industry group practices.
He is also President of James Lam & Associates, a risk consultancy with which the firm jointly provides integrated assessment, search, and advisory services. Widely noted as the first "chief risk officer", he has received industry recognition for his work. As Chief Risk Officer of Fidelity Investments, he received the inaugural Risk Manager of the Year Award from GARP in 1997. A 2005 Euromoney survey recognized him as one of the leading risk consultants in the world. Treasury & Risk named him one of the “100 Most Influential People in Finance” in 2005, 2006, and 2008.
James is an honors graduate of Baruch College and UCLA. He is author of Enterprise Risk Management: From Incentives to Controls and numerous other published works.
